Loop’s Heroes

Hello and welcome back.

I am slowly catching up with things and getting ready to run my first 5 parsecs from home (v3) campaign. My plan is to use the 5PS rules with my own hotch-botch setting Wild Galaxy. Hopefully in the next few weeks I can run a few games.

I grabbed a bunch of minis and statted them up. So let’s meet the crew of the Problem Child, Loop’s Heroes.

Loops Heroes are a crew flying in a old worn freighter called Problem Child. They have a common cause of freedom and are regarded by many as lovable rouges. They aren’t against taking crime jobs provided they don’t hurt the little man.

The captain Loops Lamik has just enough credits to pay off the debt on the Problem Child but he wants to earn a little more before he blows the bank, just in case.

Loops Lamik is a working class human from the Brittianna colony of Tak’s Drift on the world of Shira 3. As a colonist witnessing the subjection of the Halfer GELF & the human colonist populations he began to wish to be a free from the chains of colonial life. It also caused Loop’s to develop a deep dislike of authority and discrimination. Working with a Halfer (Shorty McDraw), Loops stole some of the GELF artefacts the Brittiannian wealthy love and sold them on the black market. Taking the money he fled the world on the first leaving freighter, taking Shorty McDraw with him. Landing on the Medical Hub World of Fazark he put a down payment on Problem Child and began assembling a crew. Hoping to get some big medical Corporation transportation jobs Loops Heroes have only scraped together a couple of minor jobs so far.

The Loops figure is a 1995 Necromunda Bounty Hunter, not painted by me. He came as part of a Oldamunda pile of figures I picked up off evilbay.

Lem Bulla joined the crew as a hacker. Lem comes from the mining colony of Forgol’s Junction on Ponta 2. Lem joined the crew with his friend Maya Dalle from his home world. What Maya doesn’t know is Lem is secretly in love with her.

Lem is a plastic Combat Zone ganger by EM4 games.

T-bone Tim came from the Tech Guild in Brittianna’s captial world Londinium and serves as the Problem Child’s main pilot. He is also a good negotiator. T-bone joined the crew to escape his dark past.

T-bone is a figure from the OOP minature range for Neutronyork 3000, that used to be carried by East Riding Miniatures.

Maya Dalle joined the crew with her travelling friend Lem Bulla. She left the mining colony of Forgol’s Junction seeking adventure. Lem came with her. Maya is a skilled trader. Captain Loops hopes that they can get some good deals and jobs if he teams her up with T-bone.

Maya is a old Necromunda Esher ganger.

Shorty McDraw is a Halfer GELF. He joined Loops on his escape from the colony of Tak’s Drift on Shira 3. He is motivated by revenge against the Brittannias for the enslavement of his home world. Shorty is another good trader but Loops has to keep him away from any dealings with the Brittannians.

Shorty is a 40K Rogue Trader (1st Ed) adventurer Ratling.

Joey Raff joined the crew in the space port. Loops hired him as a labourer and extra muscle. Joey’s background is that of a petty criminal something Loops hopes may one day pay off. Joey is motivated by revenge on a crew of criminals on Fazark who have beaten and double crossed him.

Joey Raff came as part of a set of resin Victorian Sci Fi figures by Anvil Industries.

Time to sort some games out. I plan to whirl through the Trailblazers toolkit first to get the hang of he 5 parsecs rules first.

Thanks for looking. Take care out there.

Wasteland bounty hunters

Hello and welcome back. It’s been a while. I have been struggling to get time to get hobby stuff finished of late and to get blog posts written.

Mungo and Jerri drift from township to township across the wastelands looking for bounties. In a world short on law and order bounties seems to be a good way to protect your township. For people who struggle to survive day to day, bounty hunting is a good way to make a living. Of course the bounties may not always be just, worth doing or sometimes the hiring party tries to not to pay up. But then that is often the risk of dealing with “civilisation”.

Bounty hunters often keep themselves busy by acting as muscle for merchants or exploration/salvage parties.

Mungo (on the left) is a old grenadier future wars figure I got from EM4. Jerri (on the right) is by Ramshackle games.

There is more hobby stuff to put up on this blog, which I hope to get posted.

Thanks for reading and stay safe out there.

Black Guard reinforcements

Hello and welcome back,

This week I have been adding more bodies to the (Matt) Black Guard.

These are also Space Rangers figures by EM4. They are a cheap way to build a power armoured force. It is a shame that they are so limited in poses. For the new additions I decided some lighter weaponry would be in order.

The full force so far.

The Black Guard’s armour is made up from many different sources the Fortress City looted, raided, captured or salvaged in the years before the forming of the Last City. There are many different patterns of powered armour in use and many suits of power armour cobbled together from many places and parts.

These figures are Space Marines (and a old terminator bitza) from Games Workshop from over the decades. While the Black Guard wear predominantly (matt) black coloured power armour they are allowed to customise their own suits somewhat. Stylised Matt Black God symbols are popular along with other decorations.

The whole force.

I will leave this force like this for now. There is enough firepower here to deal with most mutant invasions, future guard revolts or last city uprisings. These things tend to happen more than you would think.

I still have a few old 40K beakie marines to paint. They will possibly be added to my Brittannia Queen’s Company who wear the same pattern power armour. The force needs beefing up a little and painting them in a stylised colonial British style is fun.

Thanks for looking. Stay safe out there.

The Matt Black Healers/Matt Black Cross

Welcome back my wandering friend.

Time to revisit a older faction of mine - one so old it didn’t make it into this blog. Time to change that.

The Vaultsys Vault 999 was populated with Doctors, Nurses, Teachers, Engineers and other humanitarians (and a few hippies too). During their time underground they decided that to help humanity re-build their destroyed world they would need medicine, teaching and help.

They formed the Matt Black Healers - otherwise known as the Matt Black Cross. When the vault opened in the Glowing Wastes they set up a hospital above it. The vault was used to make medicines and other items wastelanders would need.

They set up teams to wander the wastes teaching and helping. Each team had a Surgeon, A Medic, 2 nurses, a survivalist and engineer. They also had some guards. Plenty of Mercs were willing to work for low wages because the health care was so good.

The faction attracted hordes of people wanting to learn. The wandering teams also pick up people out in the Wastes who like the life style.

Today the Matt Black Healers are spread across most of the wastelands. Their knowledge, skills and teaching has saved countless lives. It is one of the few factions that isn't obsessed with fighting, killing and war. The faction are also looking to build schools in the larger settlements to start to educate people not only in medicine & survival but reading and writing as well.

This couple of figures are reworks for the faction. They serve as medics/doctors for the teams. The figure on the left is a Grenadier Future Cop and the figure on the right is a plastic Combat Zone trooper (by EM4). Both figures got fresh paint but the CZ trooper got some putty shoulder pads too.

Sometime in the future I will have to get a group shot of this faction (all four of them to date!).

Thanks for looking. Take care out there.

Convert a 10

Welcome back Wanderer, come get warm by the fire. Let me tell you about Ten.

Over on the Post Apoc Wargames Forum

https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/post_apoc_wargames/

There is a annual challenge set by the Warlord. This year’s challenge was to convert the celebration 10 year figure. See what others have done here:

https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/post_apoc_wargames/warlords-challenge-2019-f59/

Finally I have gotten around to doing the  Warlord’s challenge - Convert a 10 figure. Took me long enough to get motivated.

I got carried away and forgot to take WIP pictures as I went along. DOH!

Starting with a 10 figure I had a dig about in the bits box. After uncovering a few different arms from various manufacturers I discovered a pistol wielding arm. The arm came from EM4 Trooper Command arms - which are metal and designed to add a bit of variety to the Combat Zone plastic troopers.

Carefully I clipped the arm away from the figure and filed it smooth. The shoulder pad had to be removed too. At this point I filled a couple of holes in the cast, mainly in the backpack and sleeping roll.

The arm was lined up by eye and the spigot trimmed off. The arm was further trimmed to make it fit. After supergluing the arm in place a little greenstuff filler was added. A new shoulder pad was sculpted from greenstuff.

Hey presto - done. I meant to add some further pouches but I forgot in my hurry to finish the figure. DOH!!

A simple and fairly quick conversion. I may do more in the future as I still have a pile of these figures (if anyone is interested in getting a 10 figure please contact me at mattblackgod@gmail.com).

Thanks for looking. Take care out there.
