Wasteland Wondering Seasonal Blues.

Hello and welcome back to another Wasteland Wondering.

Happy Belated Halloween. I hope you had a spooky time.

I have been neglecting this blog a little over the last few weeks. Real life likes to intrude on hobby time.

My old bike's wiring has been causing many headaches. 27 year old loom and the great outdoors don't mix well. This has caused me to miss riding in September and October which are two of my favourite riding months. I think I may have to start looking for some new wheels.

Then there was the build up to Halloween and Halloween itself (we are big on Halloween here). Decorating the house, binging on spooky movies and scaring the trick or treaters.

We also had a trip to the cat cafe in Manchester. We both enjoyed our visit and my wife didn't want to leave. If you like felines I recommend it. According to rumour they are opening one in Liverpool. I guess my good lady will be moving in.

One thing about the approaching colder season if the cats think that they are entitled to use you as a cat bed. As you can see in the picture below, Toffee has grown somewhat.

I have some hobby updates to post (when I find my camera and kickstart the laptop) a few figures to post up, a drafted post for the forthcoming Necromunda 2 game and even some drafted posts for the Utopia city Magistrates who are stranded in ruins of Matt Black City.

My Bunker (star) Bastards and Vaulties projects have stalled. The Bunker Bastards are still in hack and convert phase. The Vaulties are mostly painted. They just need the detailing to finish. Sadly I expect that will remain so until after new year, as Xmas looms in the distance. If you think we go nuts for Halloween, you should see us at Yule!

To add to my collection of Wastelanders I have backed the Mini Gangs Kickstarter. I have been a fan of Curtis' work (Ramshackle Games) for a long time. There are many of his figures in my collection. I look forward to seeing these figures as well as trying to figure out how they will fit into my setting. Plus the rules look fun to play.

I have also been collecting the Mutant Epoch rpg rule book. Another planned post is to do a review of the game, background and mechanics. I love the detailing and fluff of this rpg setting.

For now, have a happy Guy Fawkes night!

Thanks for reading and stay safe out there.

Vault 22 - New campaign Idea

Hello and welcome back to my blog.

Lately I have been playing a lot of Fallout Vault on my tablet. The game has had a update which allows Vault Dwellers to go on missions and explore the world beyond the vault.

This is nothing new in the Fallout series. It got me thinking though. Mattblackgod's world has civilian Vaults similar to Vaultech's in Fallout. One of the great things about the Fallout Vaults is that Vaultech carried out all manner of strange social experiments on some of the vaults which can lead to a certain amount of wackiness and strangeness out in the Wastelands. An idea I am keen to follow.

I am thinking of using it as a focus of an extended campaign as the Vault Dwellers explore and try to build a better future for themselves.

The Vault in question is Vault 22. It has not heard anything in the 100 years from the outside. It does get the occasional scrambled transmission but nothing definite can be gleaned from it. The current Overseer has decided to find out what lies outside. Is there anyone out there or is there nothing?

Vault 22 is getting crowded and some supplies are running low. So the following team has been assembled to explore the wastes.

Figures L-R GW Necromunda Van Saar, GW 40K SM Scout, Void Junker

Figures L-R East Riding, Heroclix (repainted), Heroclix (converted and repainted).

These miniatures have been taken from my collection as no painting is getting done at present. Expect some NY3K stats and further notes on each of the team in the near future.

Thanks for looking.

New Vault Dweller enters the Wastes

Another Vault opens and throws a scout out into the Wastes on some desperate quest. He is kitted in Combat Armour.

The figure is a metal GW 40K Space Marine Scout. This figure was painted as part of the Big MeK's blog Speed painting contest.  From primed the figure had to be painted and based in 2 hours. I chose the figure as in my usual organised way I had not intended to have a go at the competition and the SM was the only primed figure I had knocking about.

I was surpirsed that it only took me just over an hour. Of course I forgot to base it. So I did that in the remaining time. Still scraped in, in under 2 hours.

Sadly my Vault Dweller didn't make it in the competition ratings but I only entered as a bit of fun and to see if I could paint a figure in such a short space of time. There was some pretty amazing work entered and I am envious of some of skill some painters have.

I have some more SM Scouts in the minis pile. I am guessing some extra Vault Dwellers will be arriving soon. Look out Wastelands....

Vault Dwellers!!

What is a Post Apoc setting with out a couple of Fallout style Vault Dwellers?

This pair are to be used in various ways. Vault defenders, adventurers or guns for hire. The lady is a repainted clix. The guy is a Necromunda Van Sarr figure. He is sporting some sort of modified Vault Suit. Maybe its some fancy intelligent armour?
