The End of January at last!

Hello and Welcome Back,

It’s the end of January, so it’s time for a catch up.

I don’t know about you, but for me January this year feels like it was 4 months long. It’s been a busy month with one thing and another.

As you might have noticed, I still haven’t caught up with the blog posts from last year. I will get there. The half-written posts on my device are annoying me.

Hobby wise the fantasy bug is still gripping me. I assembled some Lasers and Blasters Fantasy villagers. The box has 60 figures which will flesh out my setting. There will be another post as soon as I get some of them painted.

I have also started some fantasy terrain, mainly village houses. These are made from corrugated cardboard.

The chimneys are made from some blue foam I had laying about from another project. Drinks stirrers and cereal packet card make up the beams and roof tiles respectivley.

The roof tiles took most of the week to cut up and assemble. I thought it would be a rather tedious task, but I found it strangely therapeutic.

Now, I have the fun parts left to do – the details. More terrain posts to follow.

Thanks for reading, take care out there.

Happy New Year 2026 and my hobby plans.

Happy New Year to my readers.

My hobby plans for 2026 were originally to continue with my current themes: Wild Galaxy, Starport Scum, Skrim, Colonials for Skirm/Corrosion, and possibly rework some of my old terrain.

I also have three of four blog posts frpm last year to catch up on. I just need pictures. Time and cats permitting.

As Christmas 2025 approached, I found myself thinking about fantasy gaming again. Mainly because looking at the lovely Fogou models I painted last year made me realise I had enough crumbling buildings to play Frostgrave.

A few years ago, my Mytharth fantasy setting stalled. I managed to make a start on putting together warbands for Frostgrave, mainly getting a few wizards and a couple of Wizard's Apprentinces finished. There were a few witches too. Peering at the figures, I still need to put some warbands together.

The big thing for me will be building fantasy terrain. It is a new genre of model making, so I am excited to make something different and learn some new skills.

I will be continuing with my Sci-Fi stuff where I can. I still have a pile of Fogou Desert buildings to Sci-Fi up and finish. There is also Fogou scrap buildings to paint up as part of my Post-Apoc table. I am going to miss Fogou. Part of me also wants to go through my terrain collection and rework some older models, putting the skills and knowledge I have acquired over the last couple of years to good use.

Another plan for the coming year is to make a 3 x 3 foot board. One side will be sand/desert. I am tempted to do the other side as mud/grass for fantasy games.

As usual, these plans are subject to change without notice when something else grabs my attention.

I wish you all a very good, safe, healthy, and prosperous new year. I hope 2026 is good to you.

Cheers, take care of each other out there.
