Pyro

Hello and welcome back. 

Isn’t it typical? You wait about for a post for weeks and then three come along at once! The horde of Immortan Ork has a new warboy - Pyro. 

Pyro got his name because of his fascination with fire. He built his own custom flame thrower and chainsaw combi weapon. Thrust into the front ranks of the warboys Pyro has proven himself the flamethrower torching mutant swarms, charging crazies and dealing with vehicles with ease. 

Pryo is a Pious Vorne figure from the Blackstone Fortress set. I trimmed the spikey bits off the figure and slapped a bit of putty over the shoulder pad. There was a gap in it. 

The Warboy horde so far. I didn’t realise it had gotten that big.

Warboy transport.

Hello and Welcome back.

Sometime last year I began working on a transport for my 20mm warboys for use in my Blood and Fire setting and to be used in  games of Warlands or Gaslands. 

This is a 1/72 Warlord M3 half track kit. The chassis was taken and a Hotwheels car body & engine added. The body was hacked and stretched to fit the M3 chassis. Thankfully it was a plastic body and easy to work on. Various bits from the M3 kit and the junk box was added. 

During painting the primer became textured as the solvent in the can seemed to be running low. It has added a gritty effect to the paint job.

Matt Black Data #4 - Immortan Ork

Immortan Ork: 

30 miles south of the ruins in the wastelands of the hell zone lies a settlement built around what appears to be a old world aquifer. The leader of this settlement is a old mutated Trog known as Immortan Ork. The Trog has survived here for a long time. He was here even when the Hellzone was too toxic for anything else to live.

He and his Warboys terrorise the wastelands to the south of the ruins in souped up vehicles.

Immortan Ork would contest the Matt Black Trog's position in the city ruins but his Warboys are deeply superstitious of the ruins and cannot be coaxed or bullied to go more than a mile into the old mega city. 

The chances are that it would be suicide to contest the Matt Black Trog as his Trogs outnumber the Warboys. 

Immortan Ork is a based on a current 40K Ork Nob with a heavy amount of customisation. The mask was made to look more Orky than the Mad Max Fury Road character. The Warboys are GW Gorkamorka Digganobs painted in a Warboy style.

Warboys for Blood and Fire.

My 20mm Blood and Fire setting needed some Warboys. This lot are the willing servants of the Warlord Blackskull. 

The Warboys figures started life as 20mm American War of Independence Indians. They required a lot of shaving of hair and other bits. The cheap rubbery plastic was not easy to use. If I ever do this again I will be using metal figures. I drilled out the hands and made thunder sticks from paperclips and putty. 

The warboys have limited firepower. This is it. A mix of old rifles and shotguns.

Rictus & Furiosa - New additions to the Warboys Warband

Here it is - post No 300!!! 

The Warboys have some new additions to their  Warband. 

Rictus is the third son of the Warlord Immortan Joe. He usually leads the Warbands into the Wastelands. 

Rictus is an old OOP Necromunda Goliath miniature by GW that I was given painted a while back. I touched the paint up and he is ready for the table. 

Furiosa came to the Citadel as a prisoner who worked her freedom and proved herself as competent warrior. Furiosa worked her way up the ranks in Immortan Joe's army and is allowed to run a war band and war rig across the wastelands. Furiosa is a Ms Lovely Day by Crooked Dice.  

Scab is the newest member of the Warboys. He has been trusted with a machine pistol from the bullet farm. They better hope that Scab's finger doesn't slip. Scab is an old OOP Necromunda Goliath juve miniature by GW (as if you needed telling who made it) that I was given painted a while back. I touched the paint up to make him look like a Warboy. 

Just for a bit of fun...a War 'Tom' Boy! 

The War 'Tom' Boy is a girl who has joined the Warboys. She has proven herself to be as tough as the boys. 'Tom' is an old OOP Necromunda Esher juve miniature by GW that I had laying about.

Warboys Vehicles

So after seeing Mad Max Fury Road I had to build and update a few vehicles for the Warboys to rampage across the Wastelands. 

First up....

This started life as a cheap pound store car. The blower engine was found in a hotwheels car - which tend to be redicously large. Its cheaper to do this than buying a resin engine. 

The pound store car was stripped down and I wanted to add BIG wheels to the rear which I got from a Tonka Monster Truck car. A new base was made from balsa wood. It is easy to shape to the body. This allowed me to lower the front wheels to stop the car's front end from scraping along the ground. 

The car bonnet had a hole cut to take the engine. The front wheels where found in the bits box. They are Ramshackle Nuclear Renaissance bits.  Bits of amour and braces where added from cereal packet cardboard. It needed a cupola. This was a M16 plastic backnut. A flame thrower was scratch built from bits of plastic tubing and junk from the bits box. The exhausts are also plastic tubing. They had to be extreme too. 

I added some repair patches from green stuff putty. A bits box delve provided some bits to decorate it. One thing missing was the explosive lances the Warboys use. I scratch built them from bits of plastic tubing. A card circle makes up the detonation cap. These are not fixed so they can be removed for storage. 

I tried to keep the paint work similar to the Warboys Interceptor from Fury Road. 

Warbuggy. 

I have had a mad puppets resin Orc buggy laying about for ages. Time  to get it painted. 

 This is pretty much how it was supplied. The kit has lots of odds and ends to post apoc it up. I added tubes to take the explosive lances and added a fuel hose in putty. 

The weapons on this are spring loaded bolt launchers. They are ideal for damaging tyres and people alike. The downside is that they are slow to reload and are short ranged. 

Dicey Car. 

Many years ago I stumbled upon some 1:50 scale hotwheels cars. I converted this car. It was fitted with massive autocannons. They are not what I envisioned for post apoc. The autocannons are far too powerful. Digging about in the bits box I found some 40K Ork Rockets. So it was time to rearm. 

The rockets are black powder powered with an explosive fit and there is only two. Once they are gone they are gone. The rockets are unpredictable and highly inaccurate. There is a good  chance that they will miss.

Warboys!! Warboys!! WARBOYS!!!

Roaming the wastelands looking for slaves, loot and vehicles come  the Warboys! The Warboys are the army of a local Warlord. 

The Warboys warband. The figures are mainly old OOP GW Gorkamorka Diggas. They fit right in don't they? 

The Warboys. In this lot there are a few duplicates. I have added some scarves and goggles. One guy at the back has had his hand replaced with a Mantic Orx hand. The weapon has a brutal post apocalyptic look to it. The mob are equipped with shotguns or large caliber black powder revolvers. 

 A couple of Warboys gang leaders slightly better armed than the rest of the mob. The idea is to split the mob into two gangs when needed.

Warboy Mob leader. This guy has a long range black powder musket. 

Nux - the Warboys hero. This guy wears the clothes of a fierce road warrior he took down. He is armed with a pump action shotgun and big knife. The keen eyed among you will notice that this isn't a GW Gorkamorka figure. It is a GW Necromunda Delaque. 

Warboys wip.

After seeing Max Max Fury Road (a must see for post apoc fans) I decided that I needed my own Warboys war band. Now here is were I lucked out. Tinker kindly dropped me a box of old GW Gorkamorka Diggas (many thanks again mate!). Now my twisted little mind decided that they would do the job.

Here is a wip of the progress so far.

These guys are the test subjects. This pair only need the bases finishing and they are done. There is a few more to go. As I have repeated figures I am mixing them up by adding neck scarves and goggles.  You can't see too well but they have chrome paint on their faces. 

The skin tones started off with a lupine grey. A brown wash was added just to get the shade. Then the highlights was added. This was Lupine Grey 50:50 mix with white. This was further worked up to white. 

Then there is the vehicles. Here is a wip of the first one so far.

It needs exhausts, weapons and other gubbins. I need to find/convert a gunner next.

Now any ideas for a Immorta Joe?? Any one know of a figure that I can convert?
