Old One Eye.

Hello and Welcome back,

"One Eye" Odgie was originally from the town of Graceville in a territory known as the Freepeoples Wilds, which lies to the North of the Last City Wastes. Upon hearing the legends about the famous Baron Freedom, far to the south of the territory, the young Odgie set out to join the Baron's battle against the raiders seeking to destroy the settlements of the Wastelands. By the time he reached the City of Hamsterdam, the city joined Freedomville and the mutants of Doom Valley to form the Freepeoples Confederacy. Odgie signed up and served as a soldier for many years, battling many raiders and other threats, losing a eye in the process.

In this time many more settlements and towns signed up to the Confederacy, enjoying the mutual protection, peace and trade opportunities the alliance offered. In recent years the Hamsterdam council had decided to form the Freepeoples Rangers (just known as the Rangers) to patrol the Wilds between the settlements and help deal with threats to the Confederacy members. As a grizzled veteran with decades of experience Odgie was asked to lead the Rangers.

Although the Rangers HQ is Hamsterdam, Odgie decided to set up a base many days march away on the western coast of the Wilds, reusing a old abandoned legendary wasteland fortress known as "Vali's Fortress". This base is used for training and is a stronghold incase there is a major invasion of the wilds, such as the one made by the Kraptoidiots corporation back in the early days of Hamsterdam and Freedomville.

The Odgie figure is a old 40K RT pirate figure I found on ebay.

The Water Merchant.

Hello and Welcome Back,

A common site in Last City's Barta Square, the water seller trades water from his cart. To stop the locals from just mugging the Water Seller, a couple of hefty guards protect him and his assets.

All these figures are by Macrocosm miniatures and are based on the Carl Critchlow drawings in the Helsreach section of the old 40K Rouge Trader rule book.

I found these figures really fun to paint. While they fit the Post Apocalyptic setting perfectly, they could equally be seen wandering around a dirtside space port. I am tempted to pick up a lot more guards as they could be used in a lot of table top factions. I also think I need to make the Water Merchant a cart at some point.

Thanks for looking, take care out there.

Igorts..meet the Igorts!

Hello and welcome back,

The Igorts are a mutant clan from deep in the wastelands who now live in Last City, running a very successful vehicle building and repair business. Orginally discovered by a long range Last City Scout who was returning from a mission, after breaking down several days march from home. As he settled down in his vehicle for the night (crossing the wastelands in the dark is incredibly dangerous as there are many "things" looking for food) he heard noises. Upon seeing a mob of mutants flocking around his vehicle, the Scout fled to a safe distance fearing they wanted it for themselves. He was amazed to see the mutants fixing his vehicle up. After a while the mutants gingerly approached the scout. The Scout was ready to run, as the mutants appeared to be augmented and huffed on horrific looking pipes inserted into their mouths. Speech from the Igorts was largely unintelligible being muffled grunts and gargles, but the Scout eventually figured they were friendly and gesturing to his vehicle.

Taking a risk and trying no to show any fear, the Scout sauntered up to his vehicle. Upon inspection (followed by excited, if somewhat muffled whoops from the Igorts) he was amazing to find his vehicle not only repaired, but serviced and improved somewhat (although the Scout wasn't sure about the addition of the pink fluffy dice). The Scout realised that these unconventional mechanics would be an asset to the Last City. He explained (somehwat slowly) that his home had lots of different vehicles and machinery to repair and maintain, news which seemed to excite his mechanic saviours (there was a lot of hooting of the word "Igort" from the mutant Blackthumbs). It took very little persuasion to get the Igorts to return to the Last City.

The Igorts seem to love working on anything mechanical with a feavour that looks to be the reward itself. If you point them at a pile of scrap they happily dive in and start building or repairing. These mutants have proven to be cheaper than hiring Squats, more stable than Trog Mek Boys and far more honest & relaible than using Grots (who usually steal everything not bolted down before vanishing into the wastelands). Igorts seem to have no names and refer to each other as "Igort", leading to speculation that that is their word for themselves or possibly they are some sort of hive creature. In fact "Igort" appears to be a word that has hundreds of different meanings. They seem to randomly hoot the word. The Igorts have built, maintained and repaired all manner of machines across Last City and have received freedom of the city from Mattuis Black himself (which means no taxes upon entering or leaving the city and they can enter the Black City) for repairs to old power armour, weapons and vehicles. This doesn't mean he won't have them shot if they appear to be a threat to the Last City in any way.

Today the Igorts have a workshop and scrapyard on the edge of the Mutant (shanty) District of Mootle. They receive payments of scrap, junk, fuels and gases in return for their services. Despite the Irgorts disturbing appearance, thier mechanical prowess has made them popular figures in the Last City.

The arrival of the Igorts at the Last City seems to be the first occurance of them arriving in the wastelands. Reports have come back to Mattuis Black that the city of Hamsterdam in the Freepeoples Wastes (to the North) now have a Igort working for them. The question is, is there more Igorts out there? If so where are they coming from? Questions to the Igorts about thier origin just leads to blank looks, as if they do not understand the question or concept.

The Igorts are Mechanics figures by Macrocosm miniatures and were a lot of fun to paint.

Thanks for looking, take care out there.

Minimus Squat's goons.

Hello and Welcome back,

These four squats roam the Wastelands looking for people to enslave, who they then trade to the less scrupilous wasteland settlements.

All three figures are part of Minimus Squat's slaver team by Ramshackle Games. I love these figures as they are really characterful.

Thanks for looking. Take care out there.

Wasteland Nomads

Hello and Welcome Back,

I managed to get some figures finished. Some Wasteland Nomads.

The Shaman.

The deep Wastes tribes are often guided by wizened old Wasteland Shaman. They have a mental map of where safe resources may be found, where the
hunting is good, what uses various plants have and what places to avoid from many decades of walking the deep wastelands. In addtion the Shamans also perform healings and make medicines to keep the tribe alive. The Shaman bears a techno staff which has been handed down from Shaman to Shaman over many generations. The Shaman spends his life working out the workings and mysteries of the staff they have inherited. The staff is a recorder and a Shaman can discover what previous staff owners have learnt. There is also a toxicity sensor which helps guide the Shaman to safe places. Like the other Nomadic Tribes folk the Shaman wears a homemade haz mat suit and a scrap sword. This is a Desert Nomad Commander/Shaman figure by Anvil Industries

The Hero.

Every deep wastelands nomad tribe has a Hero, a champion warrior who leads the charge in a battle and leaves last when the tribe has to retreat. Xan Blunt is such a Hero. Hero's get the best food and pick of sexual partners within the tribe. Xan sports a massive junk hammer which is his peffered weapon. This figure is a Wasteland Raider Brute by Anvil Industries.

Both of these figures are resin. I am happy with how well they went together. Anvil's Post Apocalyptic figures will be going on the future shopping list.

Thanks for looking and stay safe out there.

Beadbot and the Bangarang

Welcome back,

No, the post title isnt the name of a fancy band!

A few weeks back I was sent the link to the Gutterlands website https://www.thegutterlands.com/ which is a bunch of background fluff around the models by the Billmakesstuff YouTube channel. The trash bash nature of Bill's models has really inspired me, and is the reason why there have been a few trashbash terrain posts of late. For me making models from stuff destined for landfill has always been a very rewarding aspect of the hobby. I blame the old 40K RT rule book model making section and possibly watching Blue Peter as a kid.

I digress, inspired by Bill's models I had to try my hand at building Beadbots and picked up the Bangarang rules by Apocrypha_Now. Bangarang is a game to battle Beatbots in a Arena on the world known as the Tapu (also the Gutterlands).

So what is a Beadbot? It is a robust style of generic robot that looks like they are built from beads, mainly because the tabletop model is built from beads. Part of thier popularity is the ease of repair and interchangeability of parts. AIs are easily swapped between bots. Bangarang rules also include rules for Scrapbots, Biobots and fancy uppers bots (rich folks' bots).

Introducing Beadbot 01Buggi22.

This is my first Beadbot following the basic instructions in the Bangarang rules. Some bits box delving found some extra bits such as 40k shoulder pads as hip joint covers. The weapons and back gubbins also came from the bits box. The colour scheme was chosen to appeal to my wife and I hope we can get some Bangarang games in future. I have found building the beadbot very therapeutic and there are more planned. Not just for the Bangarang.

Bangarang in the Wild Galaxy

Robots of all styles are common across human space. As Beadbots are cheap and robust they are quite common. Scrapbots can be found too, usually on frontier worlds or in service in poorer communities.

I quite fancy the idea of making a couple of beadbots as loaders in Spaceports (Dockerbots?). Bangarang arenas are common in frontier worlds where older Beadbots and Junkbots are pitted against each other for entertainment purposes of the masses.

Bangarang on Mattblackgod’s World

Beadbots still exist on Mattblackgod’s World but they are now symbols of wealth. Those factions lucky enough to own a functioning and surviving Beadbot would not risk damaging it in the Arena. Those few that do are usually showing off how wealthy they are, that they can happily wreck a functioning beadbot (which is the MBW equivalent of burning a million dollars). Junkbots are more common and often feature in the Bangrang in Last City’s Mars Arena. Meatyones occasionally feature too, captured mutated lumps of flesh dragged from deep in the wastelands. Uppers bots do not feature on MBW.

The fun of Bangarang has had me thinking of making all manner of Bots with different utilities for various factions in both the Wild Galaxy and Mattblackgod’s World. A Nth gen faction (robots) could also be created for Zone Raiders. Using similar beads keeps things in line with that faction's motif of all descending from the blueprint of a single ancestor bot. As a plus all this gets down on the contents of the bits boxes.

I will also need to build some terrain for the Bangarang. It need 4 off 2x2x2 inch cubes, 4 off 2x4x4 inch cuboids and 2 off 8 inch bridges. These will have a junk look to them. My thinking is that I will also be able to use them as terrain for Mad Dan's Scrapyard (a future Last City location) and Zone Raiders.

Thanks for looking, take care out there.

I saw the signs...

Hello and Welcome back,

I saw the signs.....well made them anyway.

It's more terrain made from junk, this time for Mattblackgod’s World. The idea to make this couple of models have been rattling around my brain for some time. They are intended to add a little more colour to my post apocalyptic township table.

The Last City Sign.

This idea has been lodged in my head around since I saw Curtis' from Ramshackle Games Helsreach sign at a Bring Your Own Lead 2018 show a few years ago. It finally came into being when a small card packing peice salvaged from an replacement electrical item fell into my grubby mitts.

It was glued to an old CD as it resembled a large crumbling lump of concrete. A hole in the bottom of the peice was filled with some off cuts of drinking straws to resemble old pipes. Rooting around I found some off cuts of blue foam which I scattered around the base to resemble lumps of broken concrete.

Bamboo skewers made up the frame for the sign and the sign was constructed from an old gift card. The letters are the only bought item, they are mdf letters intended for card making. The fungi was made from scrap green stuff putty. A bit of wing from a old model kit was added as a extra bit of detail.

The base was covered in sand/grit/bits from my basing box. The rest of the model had a couple coats of textured paint and painted grey. This was followed by a heavy white dry brush. The base was coated in Beastial Brown, then dry bushed in medium grey and bone. Several dark washes toned the model down. A final light dry brush finished the model off.

The sign was painted bestial brown and then had several rust colours dabbed on with browns and oranges. It was dry brushed with silver and given several thin brown washes. Some extra orange specs where then added to give that rusty look. Some thinned green paint was added to look like dried chemical flows from the broken pipes.

Lots of tufts were added to tie it into the rest of my overgrown world. Some bits of graffiti were added to finish it off.

The Bounty/Jobs board.

I have fancied building the job board since I first played the Borderlands Computer game, a long time ago.

This was quite a simple build. A couple of scrap plastic rods, glued to a gift card base. The back board was also a old gift card. A little roof was added from bits of corrugated card. The oil drum was a spare made by pressing milliput into a mould. A couple of skulls were raided from the bits box. The Ogre skull had a bullet hole added to it.

The notices were hand drawn and added with pva glue. A brown wash was added to age the notices. The notices needed a touch up to redefine the notices as the wash had smudged them.

A bit of extra graffiti was added to the back of the job board.

This was a simple and quick model.  Speaking of easy models I knocked up a gun turret for Zone Raiders.

A Las cannon from a 40K kit was glued to a peice of card tube to make a pillar. A couple of shields from some plastic fantasy skeletons over the usual 40k skull gubbins on the sides of the Las Cannon. Lots of thin card squares was glued to the pillar and the whole thing was glued to a old click base. Under coated in black and painted in gun metal silver. Lots of washes and stippling in browns and oranges gave it a grotty look.

Happy New Year 2023

Happy New Year, may 2023 be a great year for you and your families.

22 was a real rollercoaster of a year for us with great high points and quite a few very low points which includes the loss of my Dad and two aunties. There seems to have been a lot of arguing with officialdom about stupid changes the local council want to inflict on our street. Don’t get me started on the global shit show and the state of the U.K.

Normally I would do a look back at the year hobby wise but this Christmas season has been uncommonly busy at a personal level and I haven’t had the time to do one.

I was going to draft out a 2023 hobby plan, but looking back at previous years I see that I stray off course early on in the year and end up doing something else. No plan survives past its first draft intact as they say.

A quick overview of what I hope to achieve in 2023 is:

Continued expansion of my Mattblackgod’s World and Last City setting (there are plenty of new factions and terrain in the paint queue).

Further expansion of my Wild Galaxy setting. As above there are plenty of new faction ideas waiting for paint. I have some painted minis from Evilbay which I hope to get based and into the wild Galaxy.

I am slowly working on bits and background fluff for my Zone Raiders/Matrioshka setting. I am thinking I will need some rusty high tech terrain. There is some plans forming in my mind. One advantage is that it would happily fit my post apocalyptic setting.

I have several sets of Fogou’s beautiful resin terrain to get painted which will fit various game settings.

Stoneage project: A new project for me. A shaman and his/her tribe trying to save their world from a great evil.

The siren call of 15mm keeps attracting me too. 15mm has great storage advantages of 28mm. My problem is getting rid of or selling my old 28mm models. I seem to get attached to them and always regret selling old figures and models on.

Get some games in. It’s the centre point of this hobby after all and to be honest I haven’t had a game in a long while. None in 2022. I think I only got one game in during 2021. There are plenty of rulesets I want to try including a few with solo rules.

Thanks for reading.

Stay safe, stay healthy and stay lucky out there.

Watertower B2 - terrain rework

Hello Wanderer, welcome back. Grab a brew and enjoy the view of the Rubbleborg water towers.

Back at Smash n Grab’s Block house in Rubbleborg...

“Grab....”

“Yes Smash” replied Grab wearily. Smash’s constant dumb questions sometimes wore on Grab’s nerves.

“Where does the ‘Borg get all it’s clean water from? There is no lake or river near here. That big river a couple of miles away is too tox to drink or even wash in. Melts ya skin right off it does”. It wasn’t quite that bad, Smash was prone to over exaggeration.

“Come with me Smash” Grab stood up and walked out the Blockhouse. Smash looked blankly through his gas mask and followed his friend outside.

“Yer see Smash, they pump it out of a giant underground lake deep underground through big pipes. They then store it some big tanks from the old times above the ground” Grab looked at Smash. Smash stood there dumbly waiting for the next question to form.

“Water tanks Smash” Grab exclaimed hurriedly before Smash went off on frustrating tangent.

“Big containers that store things - not the old army type tanks!” Grab explained. Grab often wondered if his friend was really that dumb or if he just did it to annoy him. It didn’t help that Smash only took his gas mask off to eat, drink or wipe the inside. He even slept in it. You couldn’t get a visual clue as to what was going through his mind. It was the ultimate in dead pan face.

“That’s why they built the fort here after the end times. Some Warlord chick called Vali had it built. The fortress fell during the Mutant war, but the mutants of the mutant temple only wanted to kill anyone who wasn’t mutated or didn’t want to join them, see? So they left the fortress and most of the stuff after killing everyone.”

“Damn Muto culties- those guys where nuts, my old Dad tole me all about them”

“Are nuts Smash, the mutant cultist are still living in the Blasted ruins”

“Crud? Really? Let’s not go there Grab”

“That dump is the last place I ever want to see. Besides I like my insides to stay inside me. Let Trashford and Brittianna deal with those mutant temple psychos.”

“Anyway. Now look over there Smash” said Grab pointing to a large tower.

“See that tower there? That’s where the keep it. Millions of gallons. As much as anyone could ever want”

“Wow - so that’s what that is and why there are guards!”

“If anyone is get in there...it’s not going to be you!”

This bit of terrain is a rework. In fact this is the third refresh it has had during it’s life time.

Long long ago back in the midsts of time I had several left over pringles tubes after the Christmas holiday.

The tower in its first life.

Now as any recycling centre will tell you - Pringles tubes are notoriously difficult to recycle. Something to do with aluminium inner with cardboard outer fused to it. Like many wargamers on the planet I decided to upcycle them into something useful for the table. The Pringles towers are good for hunt the sniper games and the model saw games of EM4’s Combat Zone with corporate teams hunting a fleeing gang. A lone sniper covered their retreat. They got away but the sniper couldn’t keep the troops at bay. Snap fire from a high point took the sniper out.

Inspired by the grain silos at Seaforth docks down the road from where I live I built the triple tower. The top level was some foam board/foam core. The mesh on top was from a piece of scrap net curtain. The edges was made from cereal packet card. Railings around the platform was built from a wire mesh panel. A 1:50 scale ladder was sourced. The control panel came from a cheap knockoff Lego toy with a steering wheel from a 1:35 truck kit. 1:35 scale kits donated the tool boxes. The base was a scrap of hardboard I had laying about. Kitty litter and sand gave it texture. The whole thing was sprayed with grey car primer.

Roll on a few years and I decided to add it to my Sci Fi collection. A few pipes made from drinking straws was added. Printed off hazard stripes where added around the hatch. The base got repainted and the towers switched colours to white. Some blue bands and markings where added to match the terrain set I had at the time. To finish it off the towers got some Krom Corporation logos added. Krom Corporation was the fictional corporation I created for the Sci Fi setting. It owned the facility and the Red Lance force (Old Void Viridians) was their military security force (now reworked as Queen Miranda’s body guard and Guardians factions - see recent blog posts).

Roll on a few more years and I was feeling that the tower was looking a little too clean for my tastes. Firstly it helps for me to know what the tower will store. Someone suggested fuel. Sadly to my mind this amount of fuel would be a real hazard. One stray bullet and Booooom! The local warlord will be setting fire to the shooter on a hill top faster than you can say “Guzzoline” for destroying his precious fuel supply. I decided on clean water storage, after all it is probably one of the most important post apocalyptic survival commodities despite what the Mad Max franchise tells us.

New additional pipe work (inlet from the underground aquifer) was added along with a water pipe, all made from plastic drinking straws. A couple of repair patches where added to the towers. Up top a resin door by Ramshackle Games was added to platform to act as a access panel. After painting the new bits I added some stencilling from a set I bought to use with Mantic’s Deadzone sets. A few washes and then some graffiti was added. My good lady enjoyed helping with his part. The jury is still out for me about using sharpie pens for graffiti. While it is easy and fast it something about it looks not right to me. Maybe I should stick to brushes? The graffiti was followed by a few more washes and runs.

The base was a little warped. I tried to surgically remove it but it turns out the glue didn’t want to remove without destroying the model. That only left the option of fixing it. I tried a few coats of paint on the bottom which didn’t work. Even a couple of coats of PVA glue didn’t work. Eventually I dampened the base on both sides and clamped it to the work table then left it to dry out. It took the worst out of the warping.

Smash and Grab beg for a drink.

The whole thing was finished off with some resin water coming out the pipe, some plant life - I put greener plants nearer the water pipe and finally a resin case from Ramshackle games up top as yet more tools.

I intend to use the towers as mainly as a terrain backdrop. It will be handy for snipers too. I can see a town spotter using the towers to keep a eye open for trouble. Hmmm maybe I should have added a siren?

As a game objective - gangs can attempt to steal the water, hostile factions could try and poison it (namely the Mutant Temple, the Matt Black Cult or Brittianna), local gangs could try and dope it (as a laugh) or maybe destroy it (the kind of stunt Wasteland Loonies groups like the Anarchy All Stars would try to pull off). As well as Rubbleborg it could be water storage for Angel Springs (my Post apoc water sellers) or even used in any major settlement.

Thanks for looking and stay safe out there.

Harrier wreck WIP.

Over on the Post Apoc Wargames forum there is a Post Apoc Aircraft challenge. I have started work on a 15mm harrier wreck. I intend this to be scenery or possibly a game objective. Scavengers could live well trading with Drop City with bits from a wreck like this.

Various bits have been cut off with a saw. The cockpit canopy needed trimming and the seat/pilot removed to make it look like the pilot ejected.

Next up I need to get some ground cover on the base.

Thanks for looking, stay safe out there.

15mm Wasteland Characters

15mm scale is really talking to me at the moment. As a result I am starting a 15mm Post Apoc project. The plan is to restart Mattblackgod's world in 15mm with some new towns and some reused factions in 15mm.

There will be some reusing of my 15mm Wild Galaxy figures, as soon as I have sorted my first setting fluff  for "Drop Town". I will be gaming mainly small skirmish games.

Firstly let me introduce you to THE WARLORD!!!!

This is the big bad scary guy who will be commanding hordes of fierce wastelanders. The stories say that the wolf pelt he wears came from a wolf the Warlord killed with his teeth! This figure is by Khurasan minatures and is large for a 15mm.  Which suits as it makes him intimidating looking leader.

Alice came into the Shanties outside Drop Town a couple of seasons back. She is a hardcase and skilled fighter. Alice has a sense of justice which she cannot ignore. Her kick ass attitude has come to the attention of the leader of Drop Town, a old guy called Dok. He has made her an associate (half citizen of Drop Town) if she takes the job of Sheriff of the Shanties. Someone needs to keep law and order in the shanty town. Alice is considering his proposal. The figure is by Khurasan Miniatures.

This is the Wanderer. A strange loner who is more than a little crazy. He wanders into the Shanties and Drop Town Market from time to time to trade salvage for fuel, ammunition and parts. No one has ever seen the vehicle he runs. No one dares follow him out into the wastes as he is crazy. The figure is by Khurasan Miniatures.

This guy is called "Marked One". No one knows his real name, not even him. He currently works at the largest bar in the shanties, the 111,000 creds bar. He works as the bouncer cracking the heads of drunks who get out of hand. Marked One carries a sniper rifle of excellent quality and is a crack shot. This scavenger speaks of his travels and a place out beyond the mountains filled with salvage, strange mutant animals, toxins, radioactivity and stranger phenomenon. He calls this place the Zone and often says he will return because it keeps calling him. Many Scavengers think he is a little unhinged.

I have no idea what this mini is but I liked it a lot (*edit - The figure is from Ion Age).

Group shot.

Thats all for now. Thanks for looking.

Wasteland Wondering. 15mm fun.

Hello and welcome back.

I am glad to report that I have finally got some hobby work on this week. The going has been slow as I have numerous interruptions from my two furry hooligans who felt the need to investigate every thing that I was doing. They are not yet 1 year old and are still very inquisitive. Thankfully they have decided that my toys are not interesting enough to play with or eat.

First up was this 15mm scale MDF ruin I picked up from evilbay. It is designed for WW2 games. I figured that it will look great on my 15mm post apoc setting.

The kit is well detailed. My only issues are that there is no internal walls and only one set of floor boards for the upper floors. I added some internal walls to break up lines of sight inside the ruin.

15mm mdf ruins seem to be plentiful out there and amera plastic mouldings make some too. It won't be long until I have a full table for my scavengers to fight over.

I got some minis painted this week too. Last year I started some 20mm figures to be Interceptor Drivers as part of my Blood and Fire setting. I set too finishing them off. Two of them are old GW Dark Future figures and the other is from Elheim. In addition to this there is four 15mm figures, mainly from Rebel (I think). These are the first additions to my 15mm post apocalyptic setting.

The figures just need basing now. I plan a 15mm version of Mattblackgod's world but with largely new factions. I need to get my first background finished ("Droptown") and get recruiting from my Wild Galaxy collection.

This week a new hot tool polystyrene cutter arrived on my door mat. Eager to try it out I quickly attacked a cliff top I made a while back. I have been itching to add a cave entrance to it.

The cutter works well. Quickly I had a cave mouth. It will need some practice for more complex cuts I think. The lump of polystyrene I removed will become a rocky outcrop on the table. The cutter happily carves high density blue foam too.

That's all for now. I am happy to be hobbying again.

Thanks for reading. Take care out there.

Wasteland Wondering - Brittannia

Rule Brittannia, Brittannia rule the wastes.

Welcome back to another Wasteland Wondering. In this issue I will look back at an early creation in Mattblackgod's world. So early it was before this blog began and never really got featured. The forces of Brittannia Bunker City.

The bunker city forces started life as a Corporation force I had created for the Combat Zone game. The figures where bought off eBay around 2004 for buttons and combined cost less than the officer figure I got a couple of years back.

Power Armour was good enough for Fallout so Brittannia got some. The Power Armour figures are my old 40K RT Beakie Space Marines. It was good to give them a second life.

Not long after I decided to create a post apoc world inspired in part by the film Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone and 2000AD's Cursed Earth. Mattblackgod's world was born. I wanted to use my Combat Zone collection. After some thought I created the SOS bunkers which was inspired by the Redoubt bunkers of the Deathlands novels mixed with a bit of the Vaults from Fallout.

I had the bunker open up, then use its personal and equipment to dominate the wastelands around. As the faction wore colours inspired by the Colonial British army they became Brittannia Bunker City ruled by a elite class of Lords and Queen Miranda.

I ran the faction satiring the real world with a few fictional twists of my own such as Lord's Brown and Blair robbing the city and fleeing. The old game reports can be read on the Post Apoc Wargames Forum in the links below:

Later I created another faction in the Bunker City. The forces of Lord Blackdagger which are converted warzone imperial trenchers.

This force was largely inspired by the Blackadder Goes Forth tv series.

I grew bored of small high tech factions ruling the wastelands. So I had a orbital satellite malfunction and drop nukes on Brittannia and it's rival bunker city Aryanriche. Isn't playing god great?

I now lament the loss of the city. In the last couple of years or so the UK has provided a lot of inspiration for breakaway factions, mutant outbreaks (such as orange skinned mutants with strange thick eyebrows for instance) and possibly civil war (Brexit war?).  I had a lot of fun lampooning the real world in miniature it seems a shame to miss some great opportunities to do so again.

I could resurrect Brittannia...but what happened to the survivors of the Bunker City?

One group stayed near by the bunker city ruins and formed the town of Nu Albion. The place is a dystopia and has many troubles. There are mutants in the Nu Londioum ruins and rad ghouls in the bunker ruins to the east. To the west the Skrap Knights of King Arty and to the North the Fatal Floozies gang.

Skrap Knights of King Arty.

Another group of Brittannia headed across the sea to the Confedracy where they mingled into the townships and farms. Two groups headed north. One went into the Nukadonia mountains never to be heard from again. The other set up the town of Nu Calidonia on the borders of Pictiseland and has constant trouble with Pictise tribes men.

Blackdagger's company was deployed to a colony before the nukes and survived. They now have thrived in the wastelands.

When Utopia City began evacuation of the wastelands a few people from Nu Albion, Nu Calidonia and Blackdaggarland where "saved" and now live in Brittannia block within the megacity. It would seem that they are my best bet of restarting a Brittannia faction.

Living in the megacity isn't what the survivors of Brittannia expected. It is worse than life in the wastelands. I can see them aquiring the equipment, technology and supplies to return and reclaim their lands.

Now all I need to figure out is how and where?  The Blackdaggers are well equipped and will not bow to a new leader easily. The other two factions are weaker. Or maybe the new faction should look for another lost SOS bunker to set up home?

Thanks for looking.
