The Hangmen hail from the Settlement Hangfield. The place got it's name from the ancient mummified corpses found hanging from concrete posts close to where the survivors emerged from the tunnels they had been living in.
The Hangfield gangs are unified by singing horrible whiney songs, which is a horrific din that drives mutant pests (and potential food scources) away from the settlement. Hangfielders believe that these songs protects them, although the reality is that they are more likely to be shot at by allies and neutral parties when they are singing.
There was much speculation over the identity of the hanging corpses found at Hangfield. Who they might have been, why they where hanged, who hung them and just how long they had hung there. The Hangfielders rever the "Hung" (as they call the mummys). The bodies were cut down (because no-one wants bits of mummifed corpse dropping over everything) and sealed in one of the tunnels, that the Hangfielders had survived the great calamity in. The site has become a shrine and the locals pray to the Hung for protection and good fortune. Offerings of food and (awful) singing are given during settlement celebrations.
This bunch of figures were assembled after a dig through the pile of shame. The sharp eyed will notice that they are all Ramshackle Games figures. L to R they are Gribble, a gent from the Soceity of Intrepid Explorers set, Larkin (old metal figure) and Goatahawk figures. I have named them Sami Ball (fighter), Gazlar Clipp (Leader), Raz Radbelly (shooter) and Skal Goatlegs (medic). I chose red as a unifying colour to tie them together as a group. As denziens of the wastelands, I decided to give them a pale sickly look.
As I might use the Hangfield Hangmen in other games, I looted the collection to renforce the gang. They all had red clothes in common. I added the same pale sickly look to their skin tones.
