Loops Heros Campaign pt 1.

Hello and welcome back, time for a batrep for my 5 Parsecs from home campaign. In my typical style, this will be done in my own Wild Galaxy setting rather than the one in the rule books.

Wreckage station is an ancient space station the size of a moon, laying in orbit around a dead world in a lost dark system. The system was rediscovered by explorers and the ancient station was partially restored and repaired. However only a small portion of the station has been reclaimed. The station gets its name from the ancient debris field from a huge space battle. During the station's restoration material from the Debris field was used leading to the station's mismatched ramshackle look. Wreckage attracts lots of explorers and scavengers seeking lost ancient tech and artifacts, not only from the station's abandoned levels, but from the dead world below and even the debris feild. Despite the lost system being rediscovered, it has not appeared on any official star charts. As the station doesn't officially exist it attracts many criminal elements and pirates who treat the station as neutral territory for deals and fencing items. The Wreckage authorities don't care as long as they get thier cut.

Loops' Heros, the crew of the Problem Child obtained coordinates for the rediscovered dark system from a dodgy underground contact on the world of Fazark. T-Bone seems to know a lot of shady types.

The crew has 2 story points from the crew generation, the campaign adds an extra 5 story points.

Loop's Hero's arrive at Wreckage Station. Unfortunately for the crew the government of Wreckage doesn't allow Freelancing without a licence. Captain Loops spends 2 credits to get a licence. Bloody burocrates stopping hard working Joe's making a credit, at least they can now work.

Loops' pays the crew's wages of 1 cred and drops 5 creds off the debt for their ship "Problem Child". That leaves the current debt at 19 credits, thanks to compound interest.

The crew head off to do some jobs. Loops and Lem head off to find a patron for some work. T Bone and Maya explore some of the occupied parts of Wreckage Station. Shorty and Joey are sent off to act as decoys incase any rivals are tracking the crew.

Loop's finds a Wealthy Merchant, Aethain Valchiria who has a ugent job. He is offering danger pay and trade goods on success of the mission.

Lem is approached by Will Twelvetree, a DCS corporation executive who has a job that can be done any time, it too has danger pay offered. The job has a additional hazard of private transport being involved. Twelvetree has stated that if successful there will be more corporation work to follow. This could be decent regular work.

As Aethain Valchiria's job is urgent Loops decides the crew should do this one first.

Meanwhile T-Bone returns from exploring, he has nothing to report other than having a lovely relaxing time. All right for some! Maya picked up a rumour but it results in nothing.

Aethain indicates that he has lost a few shipments of salvaged tech on the way up from the Wreckage's abandoned levels. He has asked the crew to travel through the levels to his salvage operation, to see if there is anything or anyone that might be causing the shipments to vanish.

The crew encounter a group of Brittannia grunts spread out in a tactical formation on the level. If the crew are to get to the abandoned levels they have to pass through this group of 6 soldiers. This would be a tall order for a rookie freelance crew but visibility is low due to steam dumps so they might have a chance of by passing the soldiers. There is also a curious item near the centre of the table. Can they pick it up?

There might be some other problems with this mission. Shorty is from a Brittannia colony on his GELF world and he might be driven to act out revenge on his one time oppressors.

Turns one and two, due to the steam pouring from the vents visibility in this sector is poor. Both sides move forwards slowly.

Turn three:

All of the crew fails quick activation and end up moving after the Brittannia Grunts. Joey moves forwards first on the left flank and spots figures moving in the swirling steam mists. "Grunts!" he yells to alert the rest of the crew. They are beyond the range of Joey’s pistol.

Captain Loops moves up along the tanks. "Brittannia? What the hell are they doing here?" he mutters as he draws a bead with his military rifle on the figure in the open. "Might as well get this party started" Loops growls as he fires on the unsuspecting grunt. The shot hits home but fails to wound, shocked the grunt staggers backwards.
T Bone moves along the other side of the tanks. In the distance he spots the Brittannia Officer. It seemed too good a opportunity.
T Bone rapid fires his plasma rifle killing the officer. "That will teach him to wear a stupid hat!" T Bone grins.

At the death of thier officer all the remaining Grunts bar one hold the line. The team's plasma gunner panics and runs.

Turn Four:

Captain Loops activates first and moves forward. Taking aim, Loops' squeezes the trigger, the rifle kicks and in the distance the grunt drops to the ground.
Lem moves forward firing at a grunt missing.

Maya moves forwards too but the grunt is out of range.

A grunt fires at Loops missing.
Another grunt moves forward and fires on Maya. The shot didn't wound but pushed her back shocking her.

Turn Five:

Maya returns fire at the grunt with her Colonial rifle, hitting the grunt killing him.

Loops and T Bone move into cover. T Bone has a shot on the grunt but he is in cover.

T Bone scores a hit with his plasma rifle killing the Trooper.

Lem and Maya secure an curious item on the battlefield (worth 1 Credit).

The crew recover 3 credits worth of scrap and a ripper sword from the battlefield.

With no casualties the mission was a success. Aethain Valchiria pays 6 credits, plus 1 credit danger pay. As a bonus he offers 1 credits worth of trade goods from his store room. Aethain is concerned that the Brittannia grunts are possibly hired muscle but for who? Why use uniforms for such a mission? Are they the cause of the missing shipments? They do have a reputation as being little better than pirates. He will be asking around for a possible rival who might be employing them. There may be future missions from Aethain.

Loops gains 4xp and the rest of the crew gain 3xp.

On to the next job.

Thanks for looking, take care out there.
