New additions to the Wastelands.

Hello and Welcome Back to my blog.

Finally I have got some miniatures finished. Hopefully my groove is coming back.

Out on the Western edge of the ruins of Matt Black City Vault 22 has opened. The dwellers have chosen to remain in the vault but now send scouting parties out in the ruins of the mega city looking for anything the vault can use.

Meanwhile on the other side of the ruins a Technomancer goes to work in his workshop in Wastetopia. Found any old tech you need to trade or fix then this is the guy for you. He is a bit stingy on trades though.

Wanderers are common in the in post apocalyptic wastelands of Matt Black God's world. Many are insane or running from their past. This Wanderer, Max suffers from both. Still he is a handy gun to hire and is a skilled driver. This means he is popular with those who need a dirty job doing.

Here is Immortan Trump, the leader of New Sodom City (NSC). Since arriving in the ruins of MBC the Immortan has restarted his war against Liberty City. NSC has started raiding Liberty City supply & trade convoys. He is also raising suspicions about Utiopa's presence in the ruins.

Out in the wastelands don't trust anyone, not even little girls.

This little girl is probably a cannibal. The figure is a OOP Hetzerdog Babylons Burning Ghoul miniature. I was digging through a old box of zombies and found her. She had her base tidied up.

Wasteland Wondering -still alive.

Welcome back Wasteland Wanderers,

Long time, no post. I am still alive and kicking. Mini painting has been going slow and not just because of the cats. We had a raiding run into the Lake District last weekend.

It is one of the most beautiful parts of the UK and every time I visit it blows me away.

My paint queue has been growing exponentially with various kickstarters dropping goodies on my door mat. Then I got some Blots Industrial walls for the Nu Necromunda boards. 70 of them. What have I done? *sob* As they are not too gothic looking they will also be useful for post apocalyptic games as walls and what have you.

I have gotten a few figures painted. Some Vault Dwellers and characters for the wastelands. They are just waiting for me to finish the bases. Pictures will follow as soon as I get them finished. The Nu Necromuda Eshers are primed ready for paint.

The Goliaths have gone in another direction. These guys are huge and remind me of the various bosses you come across in the Mad Max video game.

So my twisted mind started off developing a post apocalyptic feudal army with each of the Goilaths as a Warlord with his own turf, serving under a Overlord. As such I am doing some Post Apocalyptic conversions on them. Each warlord will have a themed gang of warriors too. At least that is the plan until I get distracted.

As for the Overlord, I wanted something even more intimidating looking than a Nu Necromuda Goliath. I started converting a plastic GW Ogre but I wasn't too happy with how it looked. The pose on the figure is limited plus the muscle is more like an old school wrestler rather than a iron pumping chemed up meat head. For now I am looking at converting a Heresy Boris figure for the Overlord.

I have been looking at the Nu Necromuda Orlocks that GW has just released. They have a certain post apocalyptic warrior look. I am thinking of using them as road guards for merchant convoys crossing the wastelands.

The Ten figures have arrived from Hysterical Games, so as soon as I get organised I will set up a sales thread over on the Post Apocalyptic Wargames Forum. Watch this space.

My Bunker/Star/Space Bastards are nearly assembled. Just some odds and ends to do before I get them painted. No idea what colours I should choose. I like rust. Does old power armour rust?  There is a request the vehicle for the gang. Something open topped. I believe last year's Bring Your Own Lead Helsreach table/game had some issues with gangs riding around in tanks. If I don't get time to build one I am sure my collection will have something suitable for my force.

Not too sure on how the painting will progress. My good Lady is off for to hospital tomorrow for a operation, so I may have a busy week or two.

Thanks for reading.

Take Care out there.

New terrain for the Wastelands.

Hello and Welcome back,

January saw me slowly crawling forward working on various terrain items including the Nu Necromunda stuff. Finally I have gotten around to finishing it and getting pictures.

First up a block house. It could be a home or part of a defensive line.

The block house is a resin model from Ramshackle Games.

My wife got me these resin barricades for Xmas. There was no manufacturer on the packaging.

They are a little more Sci Fi than my PA stuff but forces like Utopia could field them. They where relatively easy to paint. A blast with black primer and a dusting of white primer. It was just picking out the details.

Now some Nu Necromunda walls and doors....

These could be easily used in the wastelands. I have been playing Mad Max and there is a lot of rusting ships bulkheads in the wastelands.
 .

Door barricades. All these could be used in the wastelands.

Ammo and weapon crates. The lids are not glued on and they are double sided. Some have frag, gas and plasma traps in them.
Some data screens and a shrine.
Finally something nasty lurks in the tunnels. Handy mutant beasty for the wastes as well as Necromunda. I went for a maggot colour. I figured that something that lurks in the dark would probably be pale in colour.

That's all for now. Thanks for looking and stay safe out there.

Hobby Update.

Hello and Welcome back to my blog.

Firstly let me wish you a Happy New Year. A bit late I know, but late than never in my book. Life has been busy but I have managed to get some hobby in.

The Ten figure is now at Hysterical games who will be doing the casting for me. They have come highly recommended by my sculptor (Darklight Minatures) and Curtis from Ramshackle games. The communications with them has been good. I eagerly await to see the figures.

I have made a start on the Nu Necromunda figures. Both gangs are assembled. They are nice looking figures. The figures are multipart but not really multi pose. Yes you can swap weapons arms and head but a fair amount of surgery and green stuff will be needed to change poses. My main bugbear is the two part heads the figures have. The parts are fiddley to remove off the sprue resulting in losing them. After 10 minutes of searching it turns up. Assemble the head, drop a bit and repeat. Why they need two part heads is beyond me and seems to be extra complexity for complexities sake. It is the same with some torsos which have the bottom of a leg you have to attach. Come on GW, these are games figures not display models. I have built display models with less complexity.

In addition I got these two from TT Combat. Both figures are real and are a bit more old Necromunda in scale but should work for both versions. I will probably use them as juves in Nu Necromunda. The xxx figure's weapon arm snapped so I had to do a little converting from the Necromunda Esher sprues.

I felt I needed a dedicated backdrop for taking pictures of figures. I have been using walls from my terrain collection. So a rading mission into the bits boxes followed. I decided on a scrap wall. It needs more adding to it to break it up.

Over the weekend we popped down to the Penkridge wargames bring and buy sale. I didnt really want anything but my main mission was to meet up with some old friends. The sale looked pretty busy and there was a good turn out of people both selling and buying. I didnt buy any goodies mainly because I have piles of stuff to assault in 28mm, 20mm and 15mm scales. Adding to it will only make those piles higher to climb over. Still it was good to catch up with my friends.

Thanks for looking. Stay safe out there.

Gazing back over 2017

Hello and welcome back to my blog.

Looking back....my vision dims.....only memories remain. Oh and this blog.

At this time of year it is traditional to look back over the posts of the last 12 months. Looking back the first thing that I noticed was I managed to post a lot more in 2017 than 2016. I put this down to the fact that the kittens we got in 2016 are now full blown cats. They sleep more and play slightly less. That still doesn't stop them "interfering" and "supervising" hobby time. That said there was a lot of background and fluff written over the last 12 months.

Back in January I mused about bringing back the Brittanna faction. I really like the background and colour schemes of this faction.

Later this year I brought them back as the decendants of the evacuees from Brittanna Bunker City living in Utopia in a block operating as a Corporation. They later fled back into the wastelands and set up the City again.

I started making some inroads to my 15mm post apocalyptic stuff but I later got distracted by 28mm again. I also started a 15mm crashed aircraft wreck. Sadly I never got to finish it. Maybe next year?

One bad thing that happened this year was Photobucket going mercenary and starting to charge unreasonable amounts to use links to your uploaded pictures. Over 10 years of hobby pictures vanished, threads ruined. Thanks Photobucket, you really screwed me and thousands of other hobbists over. I have now found other ways to share my pictures. Up yours Photobucket!

This year saw me swing back to 28mm scale as I got into a 40K Oldhammer vibe. Not to mention adding more Trogz (Orks).

Mid year I hit on the Idea of one location where all my 28mm factions could live and knock the living daylights out of each other. One area of Mattblackgod's world unused was the ruins of the planetary capitol Mattblackgod City. They were ignored due to massive contamination from the wars that raged across the planet.

I invented a way for the toxins to clear and to draw all the denizens to the ruins of the ruined mega city. The mutated Trog warlord the Matt Black Trog cleaned the toxins up using some salvaged Terraforming microbes.

As a introduction to the setting I wrote a few background reports of a group of Utopia Magistrates sent to investigate. There is still a couple of posts in draft for this series. In addition I have been chronicling various gangs and factions to be found in the ruins. The mapping will be updated soon with more details. It has been pretty fluid so far.

The Wasteocrates have found a new home in the ruined mega city. They found a block that had the upper floors severed off. Soon a new township of Wastetopia was created. This place is a trade hub and many bandit gangs come here to trade.

In the northern part of the ruins lies Nu Ork ran by a Trog Warlord known as the Duke.

Duke is inspired by the Duke Character in the film Escape from New York.

Out in the hellzone wastes to the south of the ruins lies the base of the mutant Trog known as Immortan Ork. He uses humans as his warband and rules the wastes up to the ruins edge.

This character is inspired by Immortan Joe from Mad Max Fury Road.

Both Warlords are in despute with the Matt Black Trog over who rules the ruins.

In addition to this there is a nomadic Trog agent for the Mattblacktrog known as the Mad Mek. This Mek is a oomie lover and tries to help human & mutant settlements out.

Mad Mek is inspired by Mad Max.

The Mad Mek, Immortan Ork, Duke and Mattblacktrog are all conversions from GW 40K Orks.

Nu - Necromunda landed this year and I look forward to trying the game. The figures will be used in my Post Apoc setting. I have still to assemble them.

This year I discovered the Mutant Epoch post apocalyptic RPG rules. I love the detail and background to this setting. Great to read for inspiration. That said the rules look good fun to play. I like how they leave everything to chance when creating a character. This includes even the basics like species, build, sex and even sexuality.

One big thing for me was being approached by Curtis from Ramshackle Game to Co host a table at the 2018 Bring Your Own Lead show. I will be packing up as much terrain as I can fit in my car. The hotel is booked and we are all set for a weekend of wargames fun.

It occurred to me that next year the Post Apocalyptic wargames forum will be ten years old. I commissioned Darklight Minatures to sculpt me a survivor I call Ten. I will be getting the figure cast and will be selling it at cost to Forum Members.

Thanks for reading. Happy New Years. If you can't be good, be safe!
